I AM WRITING A BOOK!!! about my adoption journey - I never thought I would be here...33 out of 34 chapters written, an editor booked to work on it, and the cover design is pretty much ready to go.
What is the book about?
Time To Be Dad is my diary, I have written it in real time over the past 3 years of our adoption process. It is honest, open and heartfelt. I wanted you to be able to feel what I felt each time I wrote. We had some amazing days during this process, and we had some absolute shockers!
I started it just after we enquired with our agency, and kept going through stage one, stage two, then unexpectedly changing social worker and agencies. We then went through the family finding process of searching for Moose, then he moved in and we applied for our adoption order - none of which went without some kind of bump in the road (or mountain!).
Why?
Why is the question I have asked myself many times - but it is to help other adopters, supporters of adopters, social workers and the wider community to understand what we go through on our adoption journey. Its a long slog, and there are days where I just didnt want to continue. But I couldn't find out from many places what the 'Adoption Process' actually was. I started my diary as my form of therapy, it became my labour of love and now, it is being turned into a book!
Also it was a personal challenge. I am dyslexic, I have always struggled with writing, so I wanted to prove to myself, that actually I could achieve this.
How can you support?
Getting a book out into the world is no cheap deal! So I will be running a Kickstarter from the 5th October until the 5th December where you can pledge to help reach my funding goal of £1500, which pays for some editing, publishing fees and some legal bits. ANY support is greatly appreciated. All reward values from £18-£1500 come with at least one copy of the book.

Can I just buy the book?
Yes, you can it will be available for pre-order next year, with a May release date planned.
What else is on offer?
Well, I have a number of different products because I really like the artwork for the book, Mugs, Bookmarks, Hoodies, and Pin Badges, will all be available soon directly from my website - however, they are also available on the Kickstarter, and that would really help me reach the goal, if you wish to support in that way.
What is next?
Well, my husband and two close friends are editing the living daylights out of my first draft! Then when I have it reworked it will go to my editor in November, she aims to have it back to me in January for final edits. Then I will do the layout of the book and send it off to print! EXCITING!
